IPL 2023 | CSK Bowlers Keep Things Tight in Power-Play; Harry Brook Fails 'Yet' Again

Harry Brook continues his poor form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 with yet another dismal show against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday.

Put into bat on a surface that suited the batters, Harry Brook had a new opening partner in Abhishek Sharma, but the same old story was repeated in the power-play. The hard-hitting English batter struggled against Akash Singh and Tushar Deshpande as the CSK bowlers kept things tight.

The SRH batter did strike a couple of boundaries, one of them was a nice little ramp shot, but he failed eventually when Akash Singh sent him back to the pavilion for a scratchy 13-ball 18.

It was widely expected that MS Dhoni will introduce spinners to counter Harry Brook, but he persisted with the tried and tested duo of Akash Singh and Tushar Deshpande.

Brook looked out of rhythm as CSK kept it tight. However, a lapse of concentration led to his demise. Brook slashed at an outside the off length delivery and it was well taken by Ruturaj Gaikwad at point.

Rahul Tripathi has joined Abhishek and the duo have started the repair work. CSK have finally introduced the spinners, and will try and slow things down.

At the time of writing, SRH are 60 for 1 inside 8 overs.
