Former India U19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand starred with the bat as the Los Angeles Knight Riders claimed their first victory of the 2025 MLC season. Chand scored a brilliant unbeaten 86 off 58 balls to help his team chase down 178 with six wickets and 10 balls to spare.
Chand, who won India's U19 World Cup in 2012, failed to make it big and got lost due to a lack of chances. Hence, he moved to the USA for better career opportunities and got drafted into the LA Knight Riders for MLC.
In the 2025 season, Chand has been on fire. In 4 games, he has amassed 161 runs with a 53.67 average.
Unmukt Chand’s Heroics Lead LA Knight Riders To Commanding Win
In the latest MLC 2025 game, the Seattle Orcas, led by Heinrich Klaasen, won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite a solid start by Shayan Jahangir (25) and David Warner (38), the team struggled to accelerate in the middle overs.
Aaron Jones chipped in with 44, but none of the batters managed to convert their starts into a big score. Andre Russell bowled a key spell for the LA Knight Riders, picking up 3 wickets. Seattle finished on 177/6.
The Knight Riders had a shaky start, losing openers Alex Hales and Nitish Kumar early. But Unmukt Chand and Saif Badar turned things around with a 139-run stand for the third wicket.
Chand was composed but aggressive, reaching his fifty in 38 balls and hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes in total. Badar supported well with a quick 54 off 32 before getting out.

Despite losing Powell late in the innings, Chand and Sherfane Rutherford (20* off 9 balls) ensured there were no hiccups. Rutherford finished the match in style with a six.
This win lifted LA Knight Riders’ morale, while the Seattle Orcas’ 4-game losing streak continued, leaving them at the bottom of the points table.
Needless to say, Chand was awarded the Player of The Match trophy for his brilliant 86* off 58 that drove LA to a much-needed victory.
