Pratika, Mandhana, Rodrigues Sail India's Ship

India began their innings with a steady opening partnership between young Pratika Rawal and experienced campaigner Smriti Mandhana. The duo laid a solid foundation, adding 83 runs for the first wicket.  Mandhana played the supporting role with a composed 36 off 54 balls.

Rawal continued to impress at the other end. She reached a well-compiled 78 from 91 deliveries, decorated with seven fours and a six.  Her 68-run second-wicket stand with Harleen Deol kept the scoreboard ticking.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then took charge of the innings and played a captain’s knock. She held the middle order together and found an able partner in Jemimah Rodrigues.  The duo put on 59 runs for the fourth wicket, with Rodrigues contributing a quickfire 41 from 32 balls, including four boundaries. Harmanpreet’s 41 off 48 ensured stability through the middle overs as India eyed a strong finish.

Towards the death overs, Richa Ghosh came in and made an immediate impact with an attacking 24 off just 14 balls as India finished their innings at 276/6. Their third-highest total against South Africa sets up an intriguing chase as the visitors look to respond in Colombo.
