India Women’s cricket team walloped their Sri Lankan counterparts in the opening match of the Women’s tri-series in Colombo. In doing so, the ‘Women in Blue’ opened up their account on the points table, taking the top slot with a formidable NRR.

Sneh Rana, Charani Fold Up Sri Lanka For 147
Winning the toss and fielding first, India Women’s bowlers enveloped the entire Sri Lankan innings for just 147 in 38.1 overs. For the hosts, opening batter Hasini Perera composed 30 runs at the top while middle-order stars Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeewani carved 20s each during the middle overs.
For India Women, fast bowler Arundhati Reddy (1-26) got the opening breakthrough with the big wicket of Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu for a sluggish seven. Spinners accounted for seven wickets to fall in the innings, with Sneh Rana picking up three of them at an expense of just 31 runs from her eight overs. Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani chipped in with two scalps each.
Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol Headline Cakewalk Run-Chase
In response, Indian openers Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana shared a 54-run partnership within just the first 10 overs of the innings, with Mandhana herself cracking 43 of those runs from just 46 balls through six elegant boundaries.
Forming forces at 54-1, Rawal and number three Harleen Deol steered Team India past the finishing line with nine wickets and more than 20 overs to spare. Rawal notched up 50 unbeaten runs from 62 balls with seven boundaries, while Harleen remained undefeated at 48* from 71 as the Indian team recorded its opening win of the ODI tri-series.
