Vaibhav Suryavanshi named Bihar vice-captain for SMAT 2025
Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named as the vice-captain of the Bihar cricket team for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 season. The Rajasthan Royals star will serve as a deputy to captain Sakibul Gani. The team also features the likes of Ayush Loharuka, Aakash Raj among others.
The Bihar cricket team is placed in the Elite Group B of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 season. They will face Chandigarh in their opening match of the tournament at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 26.
PCB places Shaheen Afridi under supervision after missing SL match
Pakistan fast bowler and ODI captain Shaheen Afridi has been placed under observation by the medical team, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on November 22. The speedster sustained a minor foot fascial injury, and was ruled out of Pakistan’s playing XI for the Pakistan T20I tri-series 2025 match against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. With Shaheen Afridi under observation, the Pakistan team management recalled Mohammad Wasim into the T20I playing XI after a gap of nearly two years.
Travis Head whacks second fastest Ashes century to lead AUS win
Travis Head decimated England on Day 2 of the series-opening first Ashes Test 2025-26 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Chasing 205 for a win, Head exploded with 123 runs from just 83 balls with 16 fours and four huge sixes as Australia completed an eight-wicket win to go 1-0 up in the series.
The firebrand opener even raced to his 100 from just 69 balls to tonk the second fastest century in the history of the Ashes after Adam Gilchrist’s 57-ball ton from back in late 2006.
Mohammed Shami selected in Bengal team for SMAT 2025
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been selected in the Bengal team for the upcoming 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shami recently played a handful of Ranji Trophy fixtures for Bengal, picking up 20 wickets in just seven innings as he continues to make rapid gains in a bid to make his return to the national team. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) also named fellow Indian international Akash Deep in the squad, alongside captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel ahead of their tournament opener on November 26 against Baroda.
Shubman Gill ruled out of South Africa ODIs: Report
Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the entirety of the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa after he suffered a neck spasm on Day 2 of the series-opening first Test match at the Eden Gardens earlier this week. As reported by the Times of India, Gill has been advised more rest by the specialists. Originally slated to lead the Indian team in the ODI series, the BCCI will now be expected to name a new captain and vice-captain, considering Shreyas Iyer is also yet to fully recover from the injury he suffered in Australia a few weeks ago.
