In a phenomenal achievement, swashbuckling Indian opener Abhishek Sharma completed 1000 runs in T20 Internationals. The southpaw attained the remarkable feat in India’s fifth T20I against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Abhishek Sharma has been in prolific form since the Asia Cup, where he helped India clinch the title with a string of extraordinary performances. He has been impressive on his maiden Australia tour, amassing 149 runs at a stunning strike rate.
The left-handed batter became the second fastest batter from India to complete 1000 T20I runs, taking just 28 innings to achieve the milestone.

Abhishek has also taken the least number of deliveries to score 1000 T20I runs. He broke the record set by Tim David, who accomplished the milestone in 569 deliveries. He is also the fastest for India in terms of balls faced, going past Suryakumar Yadav, who brought up 1000 T20I runs in 573 balls.
Talking about the fifth T20I, India are off to a flying start, riding on a scintillating opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. While Abhishek took a bit of time to get going, Gill played the aggressor's role, helping India breach the 50-run mark for no loss before the rain interruption. At the time of writing, India were 52 for none, with Gill and Abhishek 29* and 23*, respectively.
