- DC pulled off a big surprise by releasing their captain, Meg Lanning, from the team. She led the Capitals to three successive WPL finals, but each time the team failed to deliver the goods. However, just like RCB, the core has been retained with Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian World Cup-winning duo still in the squad.

- Gujarat Giants, who have underperformed in the three WPL seasons, have shown trust in their Aussie core players as Ash Gardner and Beth Mooney are the only two players who have been kept in the squad, with the rest getting released. They have the second highest purse remaining - 9 crore.
- Similarly, the defending champions, Mumbai Indians have also retained their core, and have the purse of 5.75 crore as the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver Brunt are all in the squad.
