India Women surrendered against New Zealand in the second ODI to fall short of 76 runs in the 260-run chase. The hosts never got going due to the regular fall of wickets. Radha Yadav and Thakor were fighting for an impossible task, and the team eventually scummed to 183/10. The three-game ODI series is now tied 1-1.

Batting first, New Zealand openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer had a perfect start as they managed to stack up 87 runs together for the opening stand. While Bates got her 50, Plimmer was undone by Radha Yadav’s sensational catch at mid-wicket. She once again sparkled her magic on the field by taking a running catch of Halliday. Radha ran back from her position and dived horizontally to pluck a clean catch. Her valiant effort awarded debutant Priya Mishra her first international wicket, and the Kiwis were four down at 114.

With the chips down, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine and Maddy Green added 82 runs for the 5th wickets. Devine was calm, composed, and occasionally aggressive against Indian spinners. She hit four boundaries and a maximum in her 79 off 86 balls stay at the crease. While Green fell nine runs short of her half-century, the partnership served its purpose to steer the Kiwis to 259/9. Radha Yadav, after doing enough with the ball and in the field, initiated a rescue effort with the bat to stitch a 70-run partnership with Saima Thakor. She hit 48 off 64 balls before Devine got the breakthrough and bundled India Women for 183, thus securing a 76-run emphatic win. With that, the three-game series is now tied 1-1.
