India Women's experienced spin bowler Radha Yadav showcased her exemplary fielding skills in the ongoing second One-Day International against New Zealand Women at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The seasoned campaigner once again starred on the field, taking a magnificent catch to dismiss the White Ferns' in-form opener Georgia Plimmer.
The incident occurred during the 16th over of New Zealand Women's innings when India desperately needed someone to break the partnership between Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer. India Women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur's decision to bring Deepti Sharma back into the attack worked wonders for the hosts, with the ace spinner dismissing Plimmer, courtesy of Radha Yadav's outstanding grab.
After conceding a single off the first ball, Deepti Sharma bowled a dot ball to Plimmer. She followed it up with tossed-up delivery, inviting Plimmer to use her wrists and work it on the on-side.
However, as the right-handed batter played it in the air, Radha Yadav dived to her right, taking one of the finest catches of her career. Thus, Deepti drew the first blood for India Women, dismissing Plimmer for 41 runs.
New Zealand Lose Two Quick Wickets After A Solid Start
After Georgia Plimmer's departure, Lauren Down joined the legendary Suzie Bates in the middle. While Bates played magnificently for her 35th ODI fifty in just 49 balls, Down went back to the hut for three runs off 19 deliveries. The right-handed batter was run out at the non-striker's end, thanks to debutant Priya Mishra's valiant fielding effort on her follow-through. At the time of writing, New Zealand Women were 100 for two, with Suzie Bates and skipper Sophie Devine batting on 54* and 0*, respectively.
