IND-W vs ENG-W preview [Source: @BCCIWomen, @englandcricket/x.com]
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 continues with another high-octane encounter as India Women (IND-W) face England Women (ENG-W) in Match 20 on Sunday, October 19 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The game will begin at 3:00 PM IST and both sides will be eager to strengthen their positions in the points table as the tournament moves toward the business end.
India Women
India Women began their campaign with two commanding wins but have since stumbled, suffering back-to-back defeats against South Africa Women and Australia Women. In their previous match, they posted a massive 330 while batting first, thanks to a fluent 80 from Smriti Mandhana and a stylish 75 from Pratika Rawal. However, their bowlers couldn’t defend the total as Australia scripted the highest-ever chase in Women’s ODI history.
With Shree Charani (3 wickets) and Amanjot Kaur along with Deepti Sharma (2 each) showing promise, India’s bowling remains capable but inconsistent. The top order needs to fire in unison again and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will be hoping for a complete team effort to revive India’s campaign and keep semi-final hopes alive.
England Women
On the other hand, England Women have been clinical so far, remaining unbeaten in the tournament with three wins and one no result. Their last outing against Pakistan Women was abandoned due to rain but not before they posted 133/9 in 34 overs. Pakistan reached 34/0 before the game was washed out, leaving England slightly relieved.
Despite being unbeaten, their batters Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, and Nat Sciver-Brunt will need to convert starts into big scores. On the bowling front, Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell will once again shoulder the responsibility of dismantling India’s deep batting lineup. England will aim to maintain their dominance and push for a direct qualification spot in the knockouts.

Holkar Cricket Stadium pitch report
The Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore is known for its batting-friendly surface. The pitch provides consistent bounce, allowing stroke-makers to play freely. Pacers may get some early swing under lights but as the match progresses, slower balls and cutters become effective. Spinners will have to rely on accuracy and subtle variations rather than sharp turn. Given the conditions, teams prefer to bat first and post a strong total. Expect a high-scoring contest with plenty of boundaries on offer.
