Bangladesh’s series-opening first ODI match against West Indies was brought to a brief standstill owing to a bizarre incident. During the middle stages of the West Indies run chase, a Bangladeshi fan broke through the barricades and stormed into the field to greet Bangladesh players.

The fan in contention was eventually escorted off the field by stadium officials and authorities.

During the first ODI match between hosts Bangladesh and the visiting West Indies on Saturday, October 18 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, a Bangladeshi cricket fan stormed past security to blaze into the field.

The moment of security breach was soon captured and spread across social media, with one image even revealing that the fan managed to get close to a Bangladeshi cricketer near the boundary rope. The fan, wearing a blue and white polo t-shirt, even hugged the player before he was escorted off the field, thus allowing match officials to resume play.
