Rain continued to haunt India Women as their crucial training session ahead of the World Cup game against England in Indore was completely washed out. Heavy showers lashed the Holkar Stadium on Saturday, forcing the players to stay indoors.

After back-to-back losses against South Africa and Australia, India will face a crucial test against England in the upcoming fixture of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

With the game scheduled for October 19, the women in blue were looking forward to a good hour of practice, but the weather decided to play spoilsport.

India lack preparations ahead of the England clash

The Holkar Stadium in Indore witnessed heavy showers on October 18 as ground staff rushed to cover the entire field. But the rain poured down relentlessly, leaving the practice pitches drenched and unfit for use.

Hence, India Women stayed indoors, disrupting their final preparations before facing the four-time champions.

With overcast conditions expected to continue, there are also concerns about possible interruptions during the match itself.

Most importantly, rain has been a big spoilsport in this World Cup. 3 games in Colombo have already been cancelled, and the match between Australia and Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium was abandoned without a single ball being bowled.

The erratic weather has not just impacted team preparations but also brought uncertainty around the tournament standings.

India cannot afford to set a foot wrong in the next game

Meanwhile, for India Women, this rain-affected session is just when things start to get tricky. So far, the team's run has been a mixed bag with solid victories against Sri Lanka and Pakistan but horrible losses against South Africa and Australia.

Currently placed at 4th spot on the points table with 4 points, India's semifinal journey will largely depend on the way they conduct themselves in their next three matches against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
