Brief Scores: India Women: 147-6 (20 overs) [Richa Ghosh: 34 (28), Smriti Mandhana: 29 (28); Annabel Sutherland 2/12 (4), Georgia Wareham 2/24 (4)] lost to Australia Women: 149-3 (18.4 overs) [Alyssa Healy: 55 (38), Beth Mooney: 52* (45); Pooja Vastrakar 2/26 (3.4), Deepti Sharma 1/32 (4)] by seven wickets.

Australia Women outclassed their Indian counterparts in the series-deciding third T20I at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium to conclude their three-week tour to the country.

Richa overcomes Sutherland threat with blistering cameo

Indian openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana blazed their way to a rollicking powerplay start before the former was entrapped by Megan Schutt in the fifth over of the innings. Mandhana crafted a near run-a-ball 29 while Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur failed to make any impact in the middle overs.

Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham mowed down India’s middle-order by sharing four crucial wickets between them, before their collective threat was extinguished by Indian wicketkeeper and in-form batter Richa Ghosh.

Ghosh bludgeoned three sixes and two boundaries in her 28-ball 34-run knock to take India to a competitive 147-6 by the end of their 20 overs.

Healy, Mooney headline series-winning run-chase

Australian captain Alyssa Healy thwacked Indian bowlers with a rapid flow of powerplay boundaries to blitz her side to 85 at the halfway stage of the innings.

Her dismissal at the hands of Deepti Sharma, coupled with Pooja Vastrakar’s twin strikes in the death overs made little difference to Australian cause as Healy’s opening partner Beth Mooney steered her side to victory with eight balls and seven wickets to spare.
