Brief score | INDW: 130/8 (20 Overs) [Deepti Sharma 30(27), Richa Ghosh 23(19); Annabel Sutherland 2/18 (4), Georgia Wareham 2/17 (4)] lost to AUSW: 133/4 (19 overs) [Ellyse Perry 34*(21) , Alyssa Healy 26(21); Deepti Sharma 2/22 (4), Pooja Vastrakar 1/8 (2)] by 6 wickets.

In a nail-biting finish, Australian Women kept their nerves to defeat India Women by a comprehensive margin, thus leveling the three-game T20I series by 1-1.

Aussie Bowlers Elite Command Restricts Hosts To A Below-Par Total

Alyssa Healy won the crucial toss at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and opted to ball first in anticipation of dew onset in the latter half of the game. Subsequently, the visitors were off to a flyer start as Kim Grath and Sutherland sent dangerous openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana packing in the powerplay.

The setback in the powerplay broke the team's spirit as the lack of fruitful partnerships in the middle restricted India to a lowly total of 130 runs at the end of 20 overs. Fortunately, Deepti Sharma's sturdy knock of 30 runs off 27 deliveries helped India add a crucial 10 runs at the end.

Yet, the total seemed below par owing to surface conditions. While the pitch was slow, the Indian batters surely could have built a couple of successful partnerships. Indians were clearly 10-20 runs short by the end of the first innings. Moreover, the forecast of due in the second inning further plummeted India's winning odds.

Ellyse Perry Shines In Her Historic 300th International Appearance For Australia

With the team's back against the wall, Indian veteran spinner Deepti Sharam took it upon herself to produce a befitting reply. She provided much-needed breakthroughs just when the Aussie openers managed a tight grip on the game. She removed openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney to break the dangerous opening stand of 51 runs.

However, despite Deepti's salient efforts, runs kept flowing from the other hand, thus releasing the pressure created by the veteran. Budding talent Shreyanka Patil and the previous game's hero, Titas Sadhu, witnessed a relatively tough outing.

Indian bowlers did manage to pick up a couple of wickets in the middle, but Ellyse Perry made her 300th historic appearance for Australia count. She held on to one end of the crease and kept hitting timely boundaries to keep asking run rate in check.

She hit 34 runs off 21 deliveries at an exceptional strike rate of 161.90, which included 3 boundaries and 2 maximums.

Owing to Perry's resilient knock, Australia chased down the lowly target of 130 with an over to spare. With that, the three-game T20 series is wide open. The decider will be held on Tuesday at DY Patil Stadium at 7.00 pm IST.
