Brief Scores: India: 201-7 (20 overs) [Suryakumar Yadav: 100 (56), Yashasvi Jaiswal: 60 (41); Keshav Maharaj 2/26 (4), Lizaad Williams 2/46 (4)] defeated South Africa: 95 all out (13.5 overs) [David Miller: 35 (25), Aiden Markram: 25 (14); Kuldeep Yadav 5/17 (2.5), Ravindra Jadeja 2/25 (3)] by 106 runs.

Team India extinguished the South African fire in the third T20I at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg to level up their three-match series.

Suryakumar Yadav show lifts India to 201

Following the early dismissals of Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma, stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav clattered a high-flying Proteas attack alongside opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with a brutal six-hitting assault. The two cricketers shared 112 rapid runs for the third wicket, during which Jaiswal pumped out 60 of them from just 41 balls.

Suryakumar, on the other hand, went on to whack a whirlwind hundred from 56 deliveries, unleashing a sequence of seven elegant boundaries and eight towering sixes.

Rinku Singh’s potential death-overs cameo was curtailed by South Africa’s late fightback, as the Proteas restricted the Indian line-up to 201-7 by the end of their 20 overs.

South African comeback man and leading spinner Keshav Maharaj conceded just 26 off his spell, all while picking up the key wickets of Gill and Varma. Lizaad Williams also snared two victims while Nandre Burger and Tabraiz Shamsi returned with a wicket each from their four expensive overs.

Kuldeep polishes off South African tail with five-fer

India’s new-ball speedsters Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh both claimed a wicket each within the opening powerplay, as the two reaped off pace mate Mohammed Siraj’s tight spell upfront.

Ravindra Jadeja removed dangermen Aiden Markram and Andile Phehlukwayo in the middle overs before Kuldeep Yadav extinguished South Africa’s last ounce of hope by collecting five wickets in just 17 deliveries.

Celebrating his 29th birthday, the left-arm spinner demolished the South African tail in quick succession and eventually concluded his spell at 5-17 from 2.5 overs.

The Proteas folded up for just 95 to concede a 106-run win to the visitors, who levelled the three-match series in the decider.
