The historic first ODI between India and Nepal is up and running in full swing and after Nepal started off positively with 65-run opening stand, India have fought back with six wickets and have reduced Nepal to 178-6 in the 38th over before rain stopped play.

The showers have been threatening to stop the game since the start of the match, but they were passing showers twice, and despite a slight halt, the players did not walk off the field. They have finally gone off now, but let’s hope that our not-so-beloved field, rain finds some other place to chill and cricket takes the centrestage in Pallekele.

Also, India will have a target of 207 in 37 overs if Nepal does not bat again and smaller the game, more will be Nepal’s chances of challenging India here.

Talking about the match so far, India won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, India dropped three catches in the opening five overs, and Nepal started off with a 65-run opening stand. Shardul eventually broke the opening stand, and then Ravindra Jadeja ran through the middle order with three quick wickets. Siraj too joined the party with two wickets, and despite Aasif Sheikh’s fifty, Nepal are struggling with six wickets down.

The good news is that some covers have been taken off but, the 30-yard circle is still covered and the inspection will take place at 6:30 PM IST!
