Team India overcame a resilient England in the fourth T20I at the MCA Stadium in Pune to clinch their five-match series with a game to spare. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube belted blistering half-centuries to counter Saqib Mahmood’s dream opening spell on T20I return, before debutant Harshit Rana and Indian spinners took the ‘Men in Blue’ 3-1 up in the series.

Here’s the timeline of how IND vs ENG panned out in Pune:

IND vs ENG Highlights: Rinku Singh Anchors After Mahmood’s Triple-Wicket Maiden

England fast bowler Saqib Mahmood celebrated his T20I return with a triple-wicket maiden, which included the prized scalps of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav for ducks shortly after getting rid of Indian opener Sanju Samson.

Tottering at 12-3, Abhishek Sharma (29 off 19) led India’s reparation work with comeback man Rinku Singh (30 off 26). The two blistering left-handers shared 45 runs for the fourth wicket to take the ‘Men in Blue’ past the 50-run mark. Sharma and Rinku were eventually dismissed in quick succession by Adil Rashid (1-35) and Brydon Carse (1-39) respectively as Team India slipped to 79-5 in 11 overs.

IND vs ENG Highlights: Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya 50s Lift India To 181

Hard-hitting middle-order batters Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya forged 87 quick runs from just 44 balls for the sixth wicket. Both Dube and Pandya clubbed dazzling half-centuries, scoring 53 runs each from 34 and 30 deliveries respectively.

Pandya, in particular, bludgeoned four boundaries and four sixes until he got holed out by Jos Buttler at cover off Jamie Overton. The lanky English seamer also dismissed Axar Patel in his following over to bag figures of 2-32.

Nonetheless, India’s backend assault helped them surge to a competitive 181-9 from 20 overs.

IND vs ENG Highlights: Phil Salt, Ben Duckett Explode With 62-Run Powerplay

Chasing 182, Ben Duckett and out-of-form opener Phil Salt led England’s early charge with an attacking 62-run partnership in just six overs. Duckett belted seven boundaries and a six in his 19-ball 39, while Salt made 23 with four elegant boundaries until he was knocked over by Axar Patel.

Ravi Bishnoi seized India’s newfound momentum with the wickets of a well-set Duckett and England captain Jos Buttler in the space of just four balls of his spell as the visitors slipped to 67-3 to squander away their sublime start.

IND vs ENG Highlights: Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana Mop Up English Team As India Clinch Series

Harry Brook at number four kept the English chase alive with a counterattacking 26-ball 51. Despite losing Liam Livingstone to India’s T20I debutant Harshit Rana, Brook raged on to flay the Indian attack with five boundaries and two sixes.

However, a twin-wicket over from Varun Chakravarthy (2-28) tilted the tide back in India’s favor, with Ravi Bishnoi (3-28) and Rana (3-33) completing the formality to secure a 15-run win for the hosts.
