Both Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant completed their respective centuries shortly after the lunch break. Pant consumed just 128 deliveries to score 109 runs with 13 boundaries and four sixes to mark his sixth Test ton, thus levelling up with legendary MS Dhoni as the highest century-maker among Indian wicketkeepers.

Shubman Gill, on the other hand, top-scored in the innings and remained unbeaten at 119* to haul his fifth Test hundred. KL Rahul at number six chipped in with a swift 22* after Pant’s soft dismissal to Mehidy Hasan Miraz as Rohit Sharma declared the Indian innings at 287-4d in 64 overs.

IND vs BAN Highlights: Ashwin Undoes BAN’s Sublime Start To Run-Chase

Chasing 515 runs for a win, Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (33 off 47) and Shadman Islam (35 off 68) counterattacked with swift 30s during their 62-run partnership from just 16 overs. Jasprit Bumrah eventually delivered the first breakthrough for Team India by getting rid of a well-set Hasan.

Shadman also made his way back to the sheds a few overs later when he mistimed one off Ravichandran Ashwin. The legendary Indian spinner bagged two more wickets in the final hour of the day as Bangladesh reached 158-4 before bad lights called for an early stumps. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (51*) will resume the visitor’s run-chase on Day 4 alongside fellow unbeaten Shakib Al Hasan (5*).
