MI Emirates opted to bat first and Kusal Perera had a 42-run partnership with Muhammad Waseem. However, before Perera got dismissed, Waseem was bowled by Ibrar Ahmad. Moreover, the man in-form, Tom Banton, who scored a century in the last game, lost his wicket in an unfortunate run-out. Waseem flicked a shot to short fine leg. The batters went for a quick single but David Willey fired a direct hit that shattered the stumps, leaving Banton short on crease. With that wicket, the Emirates were reduced to 83/3.

Moreover, Romario Shepherd contributed with a blazing 38 off 13 balls which helped Emirates post a par total of 186 runs at the loss of six wickets. For Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Jason Holder and Ali Khan picked two wickets each.

In the second inning, Kyle Myers and Andries Gous had a 39-run opening stand. However, Myers’ inning ended prematurely due to an unfortunate run-out. The batter was trapped on the pads but he went for a quick single, resulting in a direct hit that caught him short. He was dismissed on 22 off 14 balls and Joe Clarke also didn’t last long as he got dismissed by Akeal Hosein on 32 off 30 balls. The middle order collapsed completely as Michael Pepper, Alishan Sharafu and Laurie Evans were dismissed on single-digit scores.
