The Mysore Warriors and the Shivamogga Lions crossed swords in the second game of the Maharaja T20 League 2024. This game was being played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on the 15th of August.

Manoj Bhandage saves the day for Mysore Warriors

The Shivamogga Lions won the toss in the match and opted to field first. The Mysore Warriors did not have a good innings with the bat. Despite a steady start the Warriors faced a collapse where they lost six wickets for 33 runs and were struggling to reach a competitive total.

But at this stage, all-rounder Manoj Bhandage, played a blinder of a knock. He scored 42 runs off 16 deliveries at a strike rate of 262.50. Bhandage's innings was decorated with four massive maximums. This knock by Bhandage ensured that the Warriors posted 159/8 at the end of their 20 overs.

The Shivamogga Lions were tasked with chasing down 87 runs in nine overs due to rain-interruption. The Warriors put in a great bowling effort and restricted them to 80/5 winning the match by seven runs.

Manoj Bhandage's stint with RCB

Notably, Manoj Bhandage was a part of the RCB squad from IPL 2023. The franchise purchased him after his impressive shows in the domestic circuit during the mega auction ahead of the 2023 season. However, Bhandage did not get a single opportunity to showcase his talent in the two seasons.

With players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Mohammed Siraj, etc. there are little chances that RCB will retain Bhandage ahead of IPL 2025. However, this show by the all-rounder and if he continues to deliver in the Maharaja T20 League might peak the interest of some IPL franchises, including RCB to buy him during the mega-auction ahead of IPL 2025.
