The final ball of the game provided an adrenaline rush to the spectators, with Glenn Phillips ensuring Washington's incredible win in the thrilling contest. 

Andre Russell's Heroics Sets The Stage For A Cracking Finish

The much-anticipated encounter between Washington Freedom and Los Angeles Knight Riders headed for a fitting finish, as the former needed seven runs off the final over to seal a victory. 

Although LAKR's Andre Russell had a horrible start to the over, conceding a boundary on his very first delivery, he made a remarkable comeback, bowling three consecutive dots to Obus Pienaar. 

However, as the batter managed a single in the fifth ball, the equation came down to one needed off the final ball, with Glenn Phillips back on strike. 

Holder Spoils LAKR's Party With Costly Drop

With one run needed off the last ball, Russell decided to bowl his trademark low full toss, setting a tight field inside the ring. As the West Indies all-rounder delivered the ball, Phillips smacked it straight to Jason Holder, who put it down, not once but twice, giving a prized lifeline to the New Zealand batter. 

As the ball slipped through Holder's hands, the batters stole a single, scripting a memorable victory for the Washington Freedom. The outcome sparked contrasting emotions from players and support staff from both sides. 

While Russell went down on the ground in agony, Phillips and the Freedom dugout were ecstatic, celebrating their fifth win of the season. A video released by 7Cricket's official X handle captured the on-field drama. 

Meanwhile, this was LAKR's fifth defeat in six matches this season, as they sustained their lean patch in the tournament.
