India spilt magic on Day 4 of the 3rd Test at Lord's as the Shubman Gill-led side stunned England and reduced them to just 192 runs on the board. Washington Sundar was the star with the ball as the right-arm spinner took four wickets to stun the hosts. 

India now have history in their sight as chasing 193 runs would result in the visitors going 2-1 up in the series and fourth at Lord's. It is worth noting that things won't be easy for the two-time WTC runners-up as they are now tasked to register their highest-ever successful run-chase in England. 

Highest Successful Run-Chase For India In England

Notably, India have just three successful run-chases in England in Tests, and the highest-ever came in 1971 when the then Ajit Wadekar-led side chased down 174 runs, which is still the highest for the visitors in England. 

In that match, England, batting first, put 355 runs on the board, while India, in reply, fell short to match Three Lions and only managed to put 284 runs. With a 71-runs lead, the Three Lions  tumbled for just 101 runs, courtesy of six-wicket haul from Bhagwat Chandrasekhar.

Eventually, India chased down the target comfortably and registered a six-wicket win.

What is The Highest Successful Run-Chase At Lord's?

In the history of Test cricket, India have won just three Tests at Lord's. Out of the three, only one has been won by chasing a target. The only instance came in 1986 when the visitors were asked to chase down just 136 runs. 

Thus, for India to register their highest-ever successful run-chase in England, they will also break the record for their highest-ever successful run-chase at Lord's - The Home Of Cricket.
