Here's Why Washington Sundar Is Wearing Shardul's T-Shirt In Asia Cup Final 2023

The Asia Cup 2023 is about to conclude as India and Sri Lanka face each other in the final of the tournament. Axar Patel got injured in the last game which was against Bangladesh. Just before the final, India called up the all-rounder Washington Sundar to replace the injured Axar Patel. 

Washington Sundar, right-arm off-spinner and left-handed batter directly called in for replacement and was included in today's playing eleven. He got injured in the IPL which did not allow him to play for India in the ODIs. 

But now that Axar Patel got injured, Washington has been called and might also replace him in the World Cup squad as well. Considering Washy is an all-rounder, he is a perfect replacement for the injured Axar Patel. 

In the ongoing final, Washington was seen wearing Shardul Thakur's t-shirt. His inclusion in the final was last minute as Axar got injured and considering the amount of left-handers Sri Lanka has, playing an off-spinner was a tactical move as well. 

Here's the reason why Washy is wearing Shardul's T-shirt:

As Washington Sundar was not in the 17-member squad, the team might not have an ODI jersey of the Asia Cup with his name behind it. So Shardul Thakur, who is not playing in the final of the Asia Cup 2023, must be asked to give his T-shirt to Washington Sundar. 

Indian team have speared through the batting line-up of the Sri Lankan team. Mohammed Siraj has already picked up six wickets and Sri Lanka are already eight down without even crossing the 50 mark.
