Cricket Australia has announced the 18-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against India ahead of the World Cup. This particular series will be important for both India and Australia, considering that the World Cup will be taking place on Indian soil.

Team Australia will get a game-time in India just ahead of the World Cup which will give them an edge over other teams on how the conditions and pitches are working.

There have been some injuries in the Australian squad recently and a few seniors have returned to the squad as well. Steve Smith, who got injured and could not play the series against South Africa has made a return along with the Captain Pat Cummins.

Glenn Maxwell, who made himself unavailable for the South Africa series due to the birth of his first child has also returned to the squad. Cameron Green, who got hit on the head had to sit out for a few games but has made a return now. Travis Head suffered a blow in the ongoing series against South Africa and is not included in the newly announced squad.

Marnus Labuschagne, who was axed from the ODI squad when Australia named their World Cup squad is included for the India series. He replaced as a concussion sub for Green and played brilliantly. Now that Travis Head is injured, Marnus can be a perfect replacement for him in the World Cup 2023.
