When the pressure was off and pride was all that was left on the line, Chloe Tryon showed up and showed out. In what was a dead rubber for South Africa Women in the 2025 Women’s ODI Tri-Series, the Proteas star produced a blistering all-round performance to help her side bow out in style with a 76-run win over hosts Sri Lanka Women in Colombo on Friday.
It may not have changed the fate of the tournament as India Women and Sri Lanka Women will still clash in the final on Sunday but Tryon made sure South Africa didn’t leave quietly.
Tryon Goes Beast Mode With The Bat
Coming in at No. 8 with the scoreboard reading 127/6, Chloe Tryon changed the game on its head in no time. What followed was pure carnage. She smashed 74 off just 51 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, injecting life into a sagging innings and blowing the game wide open.
Her fireworks took South Africa to a mighty 315/9 in 50 overs, with solid support from centurion Annerie Dercksen (104 off 84). From 85/5, the Proteas batters stitched together a stunning comeback and Tryon was right at the centre of it.
Then Came The Tryon Show With The Ball
If the bat wasn’t enough, Chloe decided to go hunting with the ball too. She returned with match-winning figures of 5/34 in 8 overs, ripping through Sri Lanka Women's batting order like a hot knife through butter.
She got Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Dewmi Vihanga, Sugandika Kumari, and Malki Madara, each time derailing SL’s hopes of a fightback. It was classic Tryon energy, lively, lethal and leaving a lasting impression.
Her spell ensured Sri Lanka Women folded for 239 in 42.5 overs, falling short by 76 runs and losing momentum right before the big final against India Women.
South Africa Women Bow Out With A Bang
South Africa Women may have been already out of the series but this win was all about ending on a high and restoring pride. And in the middle of it all stood Chloe Tryon, delivering one of her best ODI performances in recent memory. With the ball in one hand and the bat in the other, she owned the day in Colombo.
