Mumbai Indians Women secured a convincing seven-wicket win over Gujarat Giants Women in the sixth fixture of WPL 2026 held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Chasing a challenging target of 193, Mumbai got home with four balls to spare, thanks to a superb knock from captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
Wareham and Fulmali push Gujarat Giants to par total
Gujarat Giants, put in to bat, got off to a brisk start. Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine attacked early and added quick runs in the powerplay.
Devine struck a couple of boundaries before being dismissed for 8 off 4 balls, while Mooney looked in good touch before falling for 33 off 26 balls.
Kanika Ahuja then took charge, playing an aggressive innings of 35 off just 18 balls. Her clean hitting kept the scoreboard moving as Gujarat reached 99/4 inside 11 overs.
Ashleigh Gardner also chipped in with a rapid 20 off 11 balls, but regular wickets stopped Gujarat from building one big partnership.
Georgia Wareham held one end together and later found good support from Bharti Fulmali. A big talking point came in the 16th over when Ayushi Soni was retired out after scoring 11, making way for Fulmali to boost the scoring.
The move worked as Fulmali smashed 36 off 15 balls, while Wareham finished unbeaten on 43. Gujarat ended on a strong 192/5.
Harmanpreet and Carey lead calm chase for Mumbai Indians
Mumbai’s reply started steadily. A positive opening partnership by Gunalan Kamalini and Hayley Matthews was short-lived as both fell early. However, the stage was set by Amanjot Kaur, who scored 40 off 26 and brought her team into the hunt with the bat.
She found good support from Harmanpreet Kaur, who anchored the innings beautifully.
Once Amanjot was dismissed, Harmanpreet took full control. She played with authority and composure.
Nicola Carey joined her, and the pair built a match-winning partnership. Carey’s 38 off 23 balls kept the pressure on Gujarat’s bowlers, who struggled to contain the scoring.
Harmanpreet brought up her fifty in style and remained unbeaten on 71 off 43 balls. She took on Renuka Singh for 20 runs and Rajeshwari for 16 runs in the 18th over and made full use of the three dropped catches.
The chase was completed in 19.2 overs, sealing a comfortable win for the Mumbai Indians.
For Gujarat, Renuka Singh and Kashvee Gautam picked up early wickets, but the middle overs proved costly. Wareham and Gardner tried to slow things down, but Mumbai’s batters stayed in control.
With that win, the Mumbai Indians have moved to second place in the points table, whereas the Gujarat Giants remain in third spot.
