In a rematch of last year’s WPL 2025 season, defending champions Mumbai Indians Women once again walloped perennial underachievers Delhi Capitals to start off the 2026 edition of the tournament on a comprehensive note. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led her team from the front alongside Englishwoman Nat Sciver-Brunt, before bowlers Amelia Kerr and Nicola Carey came to the fore with the ball.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the third match of the WPL 2026 season between Mumbai Indians Women and Delhi Capitals Women, as it panned out at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, January 10.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver bolt Mumbai Indians to 195
Mumbai Indians Women opener Amelia Kerr got dismissed off the first ball of the match by Chinelle Henry (1-32). Kerr’s opening partner Gunalan Kamalini also failed to make the most of her start as she nicked one behind off Nandani Sharma.
Senior middle-order batters Nat Sciver-Brunt (70 off 46) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (74* off 42) led Mumbai Indians’ counterattacking recovery with a burgeoning partnership, with both cricketers cracking swift 70s each as their team mounted 195-4 in 20 overs. Nicola Carey also belted a quick 12-ball 21 at the death.
For Delhi Capitals, Nandani Sharma knocked over Nicola in the slog overs to claim figures of 2-26 in her three overs.
Nicola Carey and Amelia Kerr douse Delhi Capitals
Chasing 196, Delhi Capitals Women folded up for just 145 in 19 overs to fall 50 runs short of their target. Chinelle Henry herself bludgeoned 56 off those runs from just 33 deliveries with five fours and three sixes, with no other batter managing to outscore Niki Prasad’s mere 12-run effort.
For Mumbai Indians, fast bowler Nicola Carey decimated the Capitals with the huge wickets of Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp to claim 3-37. Amelia Kerr (3-24) mopped up the Capitals with a three-fer of her own while Nat Sciver-Brunt chipped in with two after the powerplay strike of legendary pacer Shabnim Ismail.
