Pakistan fans had something to cheer about as the men in green pulled off a series win against South Africa in Lahore. After the match, captain Salman Agha praised his players for showing strong character.

Chasing 140 in the 3rd T20I at Lahore, Pakistan, appeared to be in full control when skipper Salman and Babar Azam stitched together a solid 76-run partnership.

Babar was at his best, scoring a well-made half-century, while Agha played a smart supporting role.

But just when it seemed like a comfortable finish was on the cards, Pakistan found a way to make things tense by losing four wickets in quick succession, including both set batters.

With pressure mounting and the crowd on edge, Usman Khan maintained his composure and completed the job in the penultimate over, ensuring Pakistan did not suffer a last-minute collapse and completed the series victory.

After the game, captain Salman Agha, talking in post-match presentation, summed up a classic Pakistani response to the sensational finish. In his reflection on the win, Agha acknowledged his players for showing character after losing the first match of the series.

"Good teams, when they perform well, they back it up — and we did that. Over the last 3-4 months, every player has been assigned a clear role, and now it’s all about execution. You just have to do what the game demands, and we’ve done that in the last two matches,” Agha said.

The captain also credited Pakistan’s recent success to clear role definitions and a flexible game plan.

Also, Pakistan’s team management also continued their rotation policy, resting key players like Shaheen Afridi in the second match and keeping Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah on the bench for the decider.

Agha added that this approach helps keep the squad fresh for upcoming tournaments.

“We believe in rotation because there are a lot of games coming up. It’s difficult for everyone to play every match, and I’m happy that our bench strength is improving. To come back from 0-1 down and win the series, I’m really happy. The character we’ve shown in the last two games is what we want to carry forward," he added.

As Pakistan lifted the trophy in front of their home fans, a new ray of hope emerged. After struggling in the last few series, Pakistan’s T20I team finally appears to be back on track, which is a good sign, keeping the 2026 T20 World Cup in sight.
