Last night, every corner of India danced in joy as the India Women made their way into the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 final after beating Australia Women in a dramatic show. The match delivered unreal white-ball drama, as cricket fans remained in awe of Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur's batting brilliance.

As celebrations erupted across India, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's focus stayed razor-sharp. After the epic win, she said the team's eyes are now firmly set on lifting the World Cup.

One final step for glory, says Harmanpreet

In the ICC tournaments, the Australian side has been the biggest headache for the Indian side, irrespective of men's and women's cricket, but the heartbreaking script flipped in the last game. Facing Australia Women in the semifinal, India Women were under pressure, but an outstanding partnership between Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues turned the tide.

With a five-wicket win over the Aussie Women, they stormed into the Women's World Cup final, chasing their maiden Women's World Cup trophy. Riding high after the victory, Harmanpreet Kaur kept the fire alive for the grand finale.

“Very proud. I don’t have words to express myself. Feeling great - this time we have crossed that line which we have been working towards for so many years,” she said.

"One more game to go. Today, we all played well, happy with the result. But we have already started speaking about the next game - that shows how focused we are and how keen we are to win the World Cup,” she added.

A home World Cup feels extra special: Harmanpreet

After the 2011-12 season, the Women's ODI World Cup is back on Indian soil, and fans are enjoying some unreal white-ball action on home turf. Making the most of familiar conditions, the Women in Blue marched into the final, with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur calling it a  "special" feeling.

“Playing in a home World Cup is special, and we want to give back to our fans and families. One more game to go, and we will give our best,” she said.

After the nerve-wracking semifinal victory over the Australia Women, the India Women are standing in front of the biggest challenge. On November 2, all eyes turn to the grand finale as India and South Africa battle for the coveted Women's World Cup trophy.
