Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the second match of the WPL 2026 season between Gujarat Giants Women and UP Warriorz Women, as it panned out at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, January 10.
Ashleigh Gardner, Anushka Sharma blaze Giants to 207
Batting first, Gujarat Giants mounted 207-4 in 20 overs after losing the toss. Opening batter Sophie Devine smeared 38 off just 20 balls at the top of the order, while her partner Beth Mooney failed to get going with a sluggish 13. After both cricketers were dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone (2-32) and Shikha Pandey (1-29) inside the powerplay overs, captain Ashleigh Gardner forged a huge 103-run partnership with number three Anushka Sharma (44 off 30).
Gardner herself top-scored in the innings through her whirlwind 41-ball 65. Georgia Wareham muscled 27* from just 10 balls towards the end to provide the slog-overs impetus to the Giants.
UP Warriorz fall short despite Litchfield’s 78
UP Warriorz got jolted early with the wicket of opener Kiran Navgire to Renuka Singh in the first over of the run-chase. Captain Meg Lanning also took 27 deliveries to score her 30 before falling to Georgia Wareham.
Tottering at 74-4, Phoebe Litchfield remained unfazed and belted 78 from 40 balls with eight fours and five huge sixes. Shweta Sehrawat also scored a crucial 17-ball 25, and Asha Sobhana whacked 27* from 10 balls. However, wickets at regular intervals ensured the UP Warriorz managed just 197-8 in response to fall 10 runs short of their target.
For the Gujarat Giants, Renuka Singh (2-25) and Wareham (2-30) both picked up two wickets each in the innings. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and captain Ashleigh Gardner also struck once each, while Sophie Devine chipped in with two, both in the slog overs.
