Pakistan decimated hosts UAE to qualify for the final of the T20I tri-series 2025. Attacking top-order batter Fakhar Zaman scored a cracking half-century and wily leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed electrocuted UAE’s batting line-up with a sensational four-fer.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the fifth match of the UAE T20I tri-series 2025 between UAE and Pakistan, as it panned out at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Thursday, September 4.

Fakhar Zaman Rediscovers His Fire With Whirlwind 77*

Fakhar Zaman turned the heat on UAE bowlers after the early loss of both Pakistan openers, Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub to Dhruv Parashar and Junaid Siddique respectively. Batting at number three, Fakhar scorched the stage with an electrifying 77* run knock from just 44 balls with 10 boundaries and two huge sixes.

As UAE spinner Haider Ali sneaked in two key wickets in the middle overs to bag figures of 2-17, the Pakistani maestro crafted a counterattacking 91-run partnership in just 51 balls with unbeaten Mohammad Nawaz (37* to 27) to storm his team from a precarious 80-5 to a competitive 171-5 by the end of their innings.

Abrar Ahmed Breaks UAE’s Back With Record Four-Fer

UAE raced to 41-0 at the end of the powerplay, with opener Alishan Sharafu leading the early charge for the hosts. His captain Muhammad Waseem (19 off 19) and number three Ethan D'Souza (9 off 14) failed to build on their starts, allowing Pakistan spinners Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz to wrest back control.

Abrar, in particular, dismantled UAE’s top-order with a sizzling four-wicket haul, conceding just nine runs in the process from his four overs to change the complexion of the game. Shaheen Afridi toppled well-set opener Sharafu after the latter reached 68 off 51 to extinguish UAE’s final glimmer of resistance. Overall, the hosts conjured 140-7 from their 20 overs to fall 31 runs short of Pakistan, thus crashing out of the tri-series final race.
