Rashid Khan bowled Afghanistan to a huge victory over Pakistan in match number four of the UAE T20I tri-series 2025 earlier this week. The legendary Afghanistan spinner picked up the prized scalps of Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi to deny late Pakistan resistance at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Conceding just 30 runs off his four overs while defending 170, the Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan side won the match by 18 runs as they took a step closer to qualifying for the tri-series final. Through the course of recent spells, the 27-year-old also attained a significant T20I record, previously achieved by no bowler in history.

By picking up match-winning figures of 3-21 against UAE and 2-30 against Pakistan in Sharjah over the past one week, Rashid Khan breached the 50-wicket landmark in T20Is as captain of the Afghanistan team. In doing so, the legendary leg-spinner became the first captain of a member nation in T20I history to complete 50 wickets.
Former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan remains second on the elusive list with 46 wickets to his name as T20I skipper. Here is a list of five T20I captains of member nations with most wickets to their names:
