After the devastating news of a heartbreaking earthquake hitting the Afghanistan region on Sunday, which took the lives of 1400 people, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that they will be hosting a charity cricket match to fund relief for the victims. All the players from the national side are likely to participate in this event.
All National Afghanistan Players To Participate In Charity Match
In what came as disheartening news on Sunday evening, a turbulent earthquake took more than 1,400 lives in the eastern part of the Afghanistan region, where 3,251 people were injured and, in fact, more than 8,000 homes were destroyed. This news has concerned many in the region, especially the Afghan team, which has been busy with the ongoing T20I Tri-series.
Despite their focus on cricket, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a wonderful initiative featuring all Afghan players in a charity match scheduled for Friday in Khost Province, Afghanistan. All the funds generated from this match will be directed directly to the relief funds, where they will be used for the development and initiatives to care for everyone.
“The match is being organised to express solidarity with those affected by the earthquake. We invite all fans and citizens to take part in this charitable event, where your contributions can make a significant difference,” the board said.
National team skipper Rashid Khan also started a GoFundMe page to raise awareness about the money needed for the victims who lost their lives in this deadly disaster.
Players Observe Silence Before Afghanistan-Pakistan Game
Ahead of the game between Afghanistan and the UAE, the players were seen wearing black bands on their arms, and before the game, a minute of silence was observed as all the players from both nations mourned the deaths of the thousands of people who couldn't survive this natural disaster in Afghanistan.
As for the game in Sharjah on Tuesday, the Afghanistan side claimed a comfortable victory over Pakistan by 18 runs in the recent encounter, as they first scored 169 runs and then defended it comfortably by restricting the Pakistan side to 151.
With the bat, Ibrahim Zadran and Sediqullah Atal scored 65 and 64, respectively. At the same time, main bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi, skipper Rashid Khan, Mohammed Nabi, and Noor Ahmad claimed two wickets apiece during their confident victory.
