Eyebrows were raised when the team sheets was out for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clash between Dhaka Capitals and Fortune Barishal and there was no Shaheen Afridi in the playing XI for Barishal side. The Pakistan pacer has not been at his best in the tournament and conceded runs in all the matches.

In 5 matches, Shaheen has just picked up 4 wickets, but barring the game against Durbar Rajshahi, the pacer has been relatively ineffective and has went for a plenty in his quota of 4 overs. Many expected that the side might drop him out of the playing XI due to his poor form, but that is not the case.

Why Shaheen Afridi has been dropped?

A couple of days ago, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft took place in Pakistan, and Shaheen is the captain of one of the teams - Lahore Qalandars. He flew back to attend the draft as the league is set to commence in April.

The captain of the Qalandars attended the event and there is no confirmation of whether he has returned back to Bangladesh for this clash, or is he still in Pakistan and will join the team for their next clash.

Shaheen dropped from Test squad vs West Indies

Shaheen Afridi was not a part of the Test squad vs South Africa. The initial reports stated that he opted out of the series due to workload management, but it came to light that the pacer was facing disciplinary issues and hence, was dropped from the Test side.

Similarly, when the Test team was announced for the West Indies series, Shaheen's name was missing as the selectors once again decided to snub him for the tour.
