New Zealand will take on Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI of their ongoing series. The match is scheduled to be played at Eden Park in Auckland on January 11. The Kiwis are on a winning streak, having already secured a 2-0 lead in the series. They will be eager to complete a clean sweep by winning this final match. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be playing to salvage their pride and avoid a whitewash.

In the second match, rain disrupted play, reducing the game to 37 overs per side. Despite the weather challenges, NZ put up an impressive batting performance.

Batting first, the Kiwis posted a total of 255/9. Rachin Ravindra led the charge with a solid half-century, while Mark Chapman also scored a fifty. The early loss of Will Young didn’t deter New Zealand’s momentum, thanks to contributions from the middle order.

Daryl Mitchell played a handy knock of 38 runs, and captain Mitchell Santner chipped in with a quickfire 20 off just 15 balls to help push New Zealand's total beyond 250 runs.

On the bowling front, Maheesh Theekshana stood out, finishing with impressive figures of 4/44 from his eight overs. Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets, while Eshan Malinga and Asitha Fernando picked up a wicket each.

Chasing a target of 256, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup struggled to find rhythm. Kamindu Mendis was the only bright spot for the visitors, scoring a fighting half-century. However, lack of support from the other batters made it difficult for visitors to chase the target. The visitors were bowled out for 142 runs in just 30.2 overs, handing hosts a convincing 113-run victory.
