The Pretoria Capitals will kick off their SA20 2025 season with a high-stakes clash against the Durban Super Giants on January 10 at Kingsmead, Durban. As both teams gear up for this exciting encounter, the Capitals are determined to make a strong impression after finishing 5th on the points table last season with three wins from six matches. 

Here's a look at their probable playing XI for the season opener.

Top Order: Kyle Verreynne (wk), Evin Lewis, Will Jacks

The Capitals' top-order looks promising, starting with reliable Kyle Verreynne and the explosive Evin Lewis. This left-right combination can give the team a strong start and keep the bowlers on their toes.

At No. 3, the team has the dynamic Will Jacks, who has been in fantastic form lately. Known for his aggressive batting, Jacks will aim to carry his good run into this tournament and provide the team with quick runs in the powerplay.

Middle Order: Liam Livingstone To Lead The Charge

England's star all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who was signed by RCB in IPL 2025 auction, will be a key figure in the Capitals' middle order along with the captain Rilee Rossouw. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate and thrash spinners left, right, and centre makes him a valuable asset. 

Supporting him in the middle will be Jimmy Neesham, who brings the perfect mix of power-hitting and medium-pace bowling. Alongside Neesham, Wayne Parnell, an experienced all-rounder, will add stability and firepower with both bat and ball.

Pace Attack: Anrich Nortje Returns To Lead

The pace department will be spearheaded by the fiery Anrich Nortje, who is back in action after recovering from a stress fracture. Nortje is known for his express pace and ability to pick up wickets at crucial moments. His return will be a huge boost for the Capitals.

Joining him in the pace attack will be Ethan Bosch and Daryn Dupavillon. Bosch offers versatility with his line and length, while Dupavillon brings raw pace to the mix. The left-arm seamer Wayne Parnell will add another dimension to the bowling unit.
