Devon Conway's explosive 83, Shivam Dube's tumultuous 53, and flashy cameos from Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali took Chennai Super Kings to their highest total against Royal Challengers Bangalore and the third-highest overall in the Indian Premier League.

After winning the toss, Faf du Plessis asked his former franchise to bat first on a belter of track of Chinnaswamy. RCB's Mohammed Siraj removed Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the innings but only to bring Ajinkya Rahane into the crease. Rahane stitched an exemplary partnership of 74 runs with Devon Conway before the former lost his wicket to Wanindu Hasaranga.

Bangalore would have thought partnership-breaking would help them put some stoppage on the run-leaking, but it didn't happen for the team in Red and Gold.

Conway got accompanied by Shivam Dube, and the duo decided to put their feet on the accelerator. They slammed sixers and fours for fun. Dube even smashed two of the biggest sixers of the tournament - 111 & 101-meter maximums.

Both these batters notched their individual fifties, with Conway hitting 83 off 45 balls and Dube spanking RCB with a 27-ball 52.

After that, CSK got Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali in the middle. In their limited time at the crease, the dual got the better of the Bangalore bowlers, smoking a boundary and two biggies between them.

In the twilight of the innings, the fans also witnessed Harshal Patel gifting high tosses (beamers) to Ravi Jadeja yet again, but this time he had to get removed from the attack as a punishment to his offence.

And at last, the Chinnaswamy crowd also got glimpses of MS Dhoni walking down to the crease, but just for a mere 1 off 1 ball.
