Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 12 runs to win a narrow game of IPL 2025. Batting first, Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir’s partnership helped MI post a par total of 205 runs. In the second innings, despite Karun Nair’s 89-run knock, DC collapsed to get bowled out for 193.
Here’s how DC vs MI panned out in Delhi:
Rohit Sharma Fails Again But Rickelton Keeps MI Going
Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first and openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton got off to a good start with a 47-run partnership. However, Rohit was undone by Vipraj Nigam’s spin delivery as he was trapped in LBW dismissal. While Rohit walked back on just 18 runs, Rickelton made the most out of the powerplay, hitting 41 off just 25 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. After Rickelton, it was Suryakumar Yadav’s time to shine as he contributed crucial 40 runs off 28 balls, getting MI past 100 runs in 11 overs.

Tilak Varma-Naman Dhir Steer MI To 205-Run Total
MI had a good platform in hand and Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir capitalised on the momentum to set a massive total. Varma extended his form from the last game to slam a fighting half-century. He scored 59 off 33 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Naman, on the other end, batted with a quicker strike rate.
He accumulated 38 runs in 17 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. The duo knit a 62-run partnership and powered MI to 205 runs total. For DC, Mitchell Starc conceded 43 runs in 3 overs. Kuldeep Yadav had a good day, picking up 2 wickets in 4 overs and conceding only 23 runs.

Karun Nair Emerges As New Star For DC
With a tricky total to chase on the board, DC had a terrible start in the second inning. Deepak Chahar dismissed Jake Fraser McGurk on a golden duck. He pitched a ball on a good length around off, and Fraser-McGurk tried to chip it over the infield. However, the ball flew straight into the safe hands of Will Jacks at cover, who made no mistake.

Despite the fall of an early wicket, DC had a new superstar in Karun Nair. He knitted a 119-run partnership with Abhishek Porel and slammed a blazing half-century. He hit Jasprit Bumrah for 18 runs in the 6th over and unleashed carnage to slam a 22-ball fifty. Not only that, he switched gears to hit 89 off just 40 balls with 12 fours and 5 sixes before Mitchell Santner cleaned him up.
MI End DC's Unbeaten Streak To Win A Thriller

Despite Karun’s flair, the game turned wide open after the fall of Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs' quick wickets. The biggest blow for DC was KL Rahul’s wicket as Karn Sharma dismissed him on 15 off 13 balls. DC still needed 46 off 27 balls. However, DC’s middle order dug their own grave to throw wickets away. With two run-outs in the penultimate over, DC got bowled out for 193 runs, resulting in a 12-run loss and that marked an end to their unbeaten run in IPL 2025.
