Pat Cummins is one of the finest bowlers of the current generation, and with each passing year, his stature in world cricket is increasing. In the last few years, he has led the Aussies with great distinction and has won ICC trophies in all three formats.
Cummins Bags Unique Record En Route His Six-Fer In WTC Final
The speciality of Pat Cummins' captaincy is that he leads from the front, and whenever the team has been under pressure, he has delivered more often than not. He has done that again in the WTC final with six wickets in South Africa's first innings.
The most important one was Temba Bavuma's dismissal in the 40th over. The South African skipper was batting well and guiding his team to safer shores after early wickets, until Pat Cummins abruptly ended his innings. Bavuma's wicket triggered a collapse, and South Africa were eventually bowled out for just 138.
In the process, Cummins surpassed Richie Benaud in the list of captains with the most dismissals of opposition skippers in Test history. He has now got 19 captains out in Test cricket while Richie Benaud, another Aussie had 18 wickets.
Imran Khan and Jason Holder each had 15 wickets of opposition captains, while Gary Sobers had 12. It shows how Pat Cummins has performed as a captain so far and has continued the great tradition of Australian cricket where their captains lead from the front.

Pat Cummins, with his six-fer, has become only the fourth captain in the history of cricket to take five or more wickets in an innings at Lord's. The fast bowler also got to his 300th Test wicket and is making his country proud both as a bowler and as a captain.
