On June 9, MS Dhoni became the 11th Indian cricketer to get inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. The award is a tribute to the legacy of MS Dhoni as an Indian cricketer and his service to the game of cricket.

The 42-year-old from Ranchi has been a celebrated cricketer right from the time he burst onto the scene with his long hair and explosive batting. He has the highest-ever score by an Indian wicketkeeper in ODIs and Tests. The legendary cricketer also helped India win three ICC trophies as captain. Thus, his performances over the years have helped him earn a lot of accolades and has a long list of awards to his name.

Journey From Youth Icon To Padma Bhushan

The young MS Dhoni with his long hair was awarded the MTV Youth Icon of the Year award in 2006. His first prestigious award was the Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award in 2008. This came after India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup under his leadership. In the same year, the cricketer won the ICC ODI Player of the Year award and due to his stellar run in the format, he got it again in 2009.

The legendary captain was also rewarded with Padma Shri in 2009 and was given the elite position of Lieutenant Colonel of the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army in 2011. In 2018, he was awarded the third-highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, by the Indian government.
