Devon Conway has joined Tilak Varma to become the second player in IPL 2025 to retire out after his slow knock against PBKS put CSK on the brink of another humiliating loss. He retired out on 69 off 49 balls, when CSK needed 49 from 13 balls.

Earlier in the season, Mumbai Indians retired out Tilak Varma when he was struggling to get going against LSG and has to retire out on 25. Tilak Varma retiring out created lot of controversy, with contrasting opinions emerging from all around the cricket fraternity.

CSK Make It Four Loss In A Row Despite Bold Decision Of Retiring Out Conway

The decision to retire out Devon Conway is also likely to go in the same direction, as CSK eventually lost the game by 18 runs. However, things did went uphill for CSK after retiring Conway out as MS Dhoni smashed some vintage sixes and ended with a score of 27 from 12 balls.

Dhoni though was already in the middle when Conway retired out, and the Ravindra Jadeja who came in Kiwi's place could not make much of an impact. Overall, CSK have now lost their fourth match in a row while Punjab Kings are up and running again with three wins in four matches.

What Is Retired Out In Cricket?

As per the rules, "A batsman retires out if he retires without the umpire's permission and does not have the permission of the opposing captain to resume his innings. If such a return does not occur, the batman is marked as 'retired out' and this is considered a dismissal for the purposes of calculating a batting average."
