Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed off just 1 run against PBKS in a steep chase of 220 runs. With repeated failures, fans lashed out at Gaikwad on social media with sarcastic takes.
PBKS put CSK under pressure in the 22nd match of IPL 2025. Despite Khaleel Ahmed wiping off the top order, young opener Priyansh Arya stepped up with a blazing century.
Shashank Singh’s half-century in death overs put PBKS on top as the team finished with a par total of 219 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Bashed By Fans Over Cheap Wicket
With the challenging total on board, CSK fans put faith in captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway had a perfect start, putting together 61 runs for the opening wicket. After Ravindra was dismissed by Glenn Maxwell, all responsibility fell on the captain’s shoulders.
However, adding to his string of failed knocks, Gaikwad was dismissed on just 1 run by Lockie Ferguson. On just his second delivery, Ferguson bowled a sharp, short-of-length ball on off-stump that climbed awkwardly.
Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to punch it off the back foot, but the ball caught the inside half of the bat and flew straight to Shashank Singh at mid-wicket. With that, CSK lost their second wicket in less than 2 overs.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad’s form has been abysmal this season and fans bashed him on social media for failing to take responsibility.

Notably, CSK have lost 3 of 4 games played this year and most of their defeats have come while chasing. With PBKS putting together another towering total for them to chase, Chennai are in for some trouble in Chandigarh.
