In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Sunil Narine, the opener, was nowhere near what fans witnessed him in a similar role in IPL 2024. While Narine was bringing hell to the opposition’s bowlers with bat in hand in India, he became a walking wicket more often than not in his own country.

Narine put up another such failed show in CPL 2024 Eliminator for Trinbago Knight Riders. And more significantly, it was Maheesh Theekshana who made sure Narine should taste his own medicine.

With sheer brilliance, Narine has a habit of making batters look miserable at the crease. Theekshana, Sri Lanka’s mystery spinner who plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL, did exactly that. He bowled a short-of-a-length delivery, which spun away off the deck.

Narine was not at the right position to defend it, and the ball, which was pitched at the leg side, went on to break the leg stump. In the process, Narine had to return to the pavilion after a paltry three-ball two.

CPL 2024 Eliminator: Barbados Royals Need 60 Runs In 5 Overs

Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders posted 168/3 on the board in 19.1 overs before a light tower clonked off and delayed the game. At this point, Barbados require 60 runs off five overs according to DLS.

They have started well, racing to 13/1 in 1.1 overs, with David Miller and Rovman Powell in the middle. Narine struck early, cleaning up Quinton de Kock but they have to pull off a miracle to defend this small total.
