Chris Woakes has been a pretty successful seam-bowling all-rounder for England over the years and has delivered plenty of match-winning performances. In the ongoing Test series against India, Woakes started with a wicketless game, but found his form eventually and bagged three wickets in India's first innings at Lord's.

Chris Woakes Proves All-Round Credentials With Special Landmark

Now, in the second innings, with the bat, the Englishman has reached a rare feat, something which has been achieved by only four players in the World Test Championship History. The English all-rounder now has 1000 runs with the bat and over 100 wickets in WTC, which has put him alongside greats like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Pat Cummins.

The record proves Chris Woakes' credentials as an all-rounder and the fact that many highly-rated cricketers have not been able to reach the double speaks a lot about Englishman's ability. Overall, Chris Woakes has now 105 wickets in the WTC history and is 14th in the list of leading wicket-takers.

Players to Complete the Double of 1000-Plus Runs & 100-Plus Wickets In WTC History

  • Ravindra Jadeja (2151 runs & 134 wickets)
  • Ravichandran Ashwin (1142 runs & 195 wickets)
  • Pat Cummins (1,015 runs & 213 wickets)
  • Chris Woakes (1005 runs & 105 wickets)*

Out of the four, Ravindra Jadeja is the only one with over 2000 runs and more than 100 wickets, while the retired Ashwin scored 1142 runs and dismissed 195 batters. Pat Cummins, primarily a bowler, has 213 wickets in WTC history and crossed the 1000-run mark with his knock of 24 in the first innings of the day-night Tes against the Windies at Sabina Park.

However, despite the record, Woakes could manage just 10 runs with the bat when his team needed more from him in the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah got the better of him, and England now need Chris Woakes to deliver with the ball in the second innings to take the home team over the line at Lord's.
