In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 match between Saurashtra and Manipur at Sanosara Cricket Ground A, Rajkot, Cheteshwar Pujara showcased his class with the bat, scoring a remarkable century.

On Day 1, Manipur won the toss and chose to bat first but struggled, getting bowled out for 142 runs, with Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and Chetan Sakariya wreaking havoc with four and three wickets, respectively.

Saurashtra, facing early setbacks at 35/2, found redemption as Captain Arpit Vasavada and Prerak Mankad steadied the ship with centuries. However, it was Cheteshwar Pujara's remarkable innings that stole the show.

The domestic circuit run machine smashed a hundred off just 102 balls, featuring ten boundaries and a six, marking his 63rd first-class century. Pujara's stellar performance earned him accolades, even as Ronald Longjam managed to dismiss him at 108 runs off 105 balls.

Saurashtra declared their innings at an imposing 529/6, leaving Manipur trailing by a daunting 383 runs at Tea on day 2.

Pujara's exceptional form in the ongoing domestic season has reignited discussions about his return to the national side. He has scored three remarkable centuries in the Ranji Trophy campaign so far, surpassing the 20,000-run milestone in first-class cricket

The 36-year-old batter, who last played for India in June 2023 during the World Test Championship final against Australia, has been striving to reclaim his spot after being dropped due to poor form. With his stellar performances in domestic cricket, Pujara is making a compelling case for his return to Team India.
