Rishabh Pant’s debut as LSG captain turned out to be a nightmare as he was dismissed off a 6-ball duck by Kuldeep Yadav. Playing against DC, his former team in IPL 2025, Pant failed to score and faced the wrath of the fans on social media.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) in the fourth match of the IPL 2025 season. LSG batted first under the captain of Pant, who was bought for an astronomical price of NR 27 crore during the mega auction.
However, despite a strong platform set by Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, Pant failed to capitalise and went back without scoring.
Rishabh Pant Trolled After Duck Vs DC
After getting picked for INR 27 crore during the mega auction, Rishabh Pant was making his debut for LSG as captain. LSG had a terrific start as Mitchell Marsh slammed 72 off 36 balls followed by another magical inning from Nicholas Pooran, who amassed 75 runs in 30 balls.
With 161 runs on the board at 13.3 overs, Pant lost his wicket and LSG lost the momentum. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a well-tossed delivery outside off, tempting Pant into the big shot and the turn did the rest.
Rishabh Pant went for a lofted shot but could only manage to get the bottom of the bat, with Faf du Plessis safely completing the catch at long-off.
Meanwhile, as Pant walked back to the pavilion on a 6-ball duck, fans lashed at him and trolled him on social media. Many mocked his big pay check and how he has failed to live up to it.

After Pant's wicket, LSG's scoring rate went downhill as four batters got dismissed on single digit scores. Eventually, they barely managed to cross the 200-run mark. Owing to David Miller's late 27 off 19 balls, LSG ended up with 209 runs.
