Ashutosh Sharma proved his worth in the IPL 2024 was a finisher and someone who can change the complexion of a game under pressure. Notably, Sharma was a part of the Punjab Kings in the 17th edition of the tournament and played a couple of brilliant knocks for them in big chases and under pressure.

Cometh, the IPL 2025 mega auction - the Punjab Kings released Ashutosh Sharma and let him go under the hammer. During the auction the Delhi Capitals went hard for him in a bidding war and acquired his services for a price of ₹3.8 Cr.

However, a normal cricket fan might be surprised to know the fact that the Capitals were not the first team to go after Ashutosh Sharma. Infact, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru who started the bid for them and stayed in the battle with the Rajasthan Royals. 

The battle for Sharma soon escalated as the Capitals and Punjab Kings aslo entered into it. After a back and forth bidding war it was the Capitals who acquired his services finally. After the innings the Sharma has played under pressure against the Delhi Capitals, the Royal Challengers might be thinking that if they went further into the bidding war, they could have added more depth and flexibility to the their line-up.
