Durbar Rajshahi consigned wooden-spooners Sylhet Strikers to their sixth straight defeat by winning a low-scoring affair at the Sher-e Bangla National Stadium in match number 36 of the BPL 2024-25 season. SM Meherob headlined Rajshahi’s one-sided win by unfurling a match-defining four-wicket haul.

Here’s the timeline of how Sylhet Strikers vs Durbar Rajshahi panned out in Dhaka:

Strikers vs Rajshahi Highlights: Chowdhury, Meherob Scythe Through Strikers Batting Order

Durbar Rajshahi fast bowler Mrittunjoy Chowdhury struck in the first over of his new ball spell and the fourth over of the match with the key wickets of both Sylhet Strikers openers, Ariful Haque and Samiullah Shinwari in the space of just four balls. New ball pacer Aftab Alam also got into the act by getting rid of Strikers number four Sajjadul Haque for a five-ball.

Forming forces at 19-3, Jaker Ali (17 off 18) composed a fighting 39-run partnership with number three Zakir Hasan (24 off 25) to take the Strikers past the 50-run mark. However, their threatening partnership was halted by off-spinner SM Meherob, who dismissed both well-set batters, and added Kadeem Alleyne and Tanzim Hasan Sakib to his tally to claim career-best T20 figures of 4-15 from four overs.

Durbar Rajshahi captain Taskin Ahmed also got into the wickets column by knocking over number nine batter Jon-Russ Jaggesar as the Strikers reached a sluggish 72-8 from 16 overs.

Strikers vs Rajshahi Highlights: Bhatti, Sumon Khan Enhance Strikers Total With Late Hitting

Ahsan Bhatti at number six counterattacked the Durbar Rajshahi bowlers by launching a couple of sixes in his 21-ball 25 lower down the order. While he became the third of Mrittunjoy Chowdhury’s three wickets of the evening, number 10 batter Sumon Khan clubbed two boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 11-ball 20* to surge the Strikers total to a respectable 117-9 from 20 overs on a challenging surface.

Strikers vs Rajshahi Highlights: Rajshahi Lose Top Four In Four Overs

Chasing 118, Durbar Rajshahi lost opener Sabbir Hossain and number three batter Anamul Haque, both for ducks to Sylhet Strikers’ pace spearhead Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2-17) early in the innings. West Indies based off-spinner Jon-Russ Jaggesar also struck twice in his opening spell with the wickets of Jishan Alam and Yasir Ali as the Durbar Rajshahi franchise reached a sluggish 22-4 by the end of the first four overs.

Strikers vs Rajshahi Highlights: Akbar Ali, Ryan Burl Anchor Rajshahi To Big Win

Middle-order batters Akbar Ali and Ryan Burl rectified Durbar Rajshahi’s faltering run-chase attempts by composing a 75-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Akbar scored 43 runs from 38 balls with five boundaries and two sixes before falling to Ahsan Bhatti, while Burl top-scored with an unbeaten 48* off 34 balls to steer the Rajshahi to a comprehensive five-wicket win in just 16.5 overs.
