India and Pakistan are up against each other in the Women's World Cup 2025 amid political tensions between the two countries. Harmanpreet Kaur and company are batting first after Pakistan won the toss and are moving ahead cautiously after losing a few wickets.

Flies trouble India-Pakistan players in Colombo

However, amidst the tension of the India-Pakistan affair, the flies at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo grabbed attention with their continued presence. The Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, first complained to the umpire about the issue of flies affecting her concentration, and the match was halted multiple times, with Pakistan players also finding it tough on the field.

The flies were all around the main playing area and the pitch, and eventually, in the 28th over, the Pakistan players decided to take bold action. They talked with the umpire first, and then a substitute player ran in with a spray to help the players. She gave away a spray to Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, and the leader did not shy away from spreading it all over the flies to get rid of them.

Thus, it was quite an innovative action from Pakistan after repeated trouble because of flies, and it is likely to provide relief to Indian batters as well. The R. Premadasa stadium and overall grounds in Sri Lanka are known for the occasional presence of animals and insects, and recently, a snake was spotted during India's training session at the ground.

India look to assert dominance after non-cricketing drama

Amidst the drama, Indian batters would be hoping that they accelerate in the remaining overs and take the total to a position which is beyond Pakistan's reach. India have started off the tournament with a win against Sri Lanka while Pakistan lost their first game against Bangladesh.

India have always dominated Pakistan in World Cups and would be hoping to continue the same given the overall strength in their squad.
