Steve Smith hogged the limelight with the bat with a scintillating century before Sean Abbott’s wicket-laden four-over spell made the difference between the two sides.

In pursuit of 221, Perth Scorchers lost opener Finn Allen and number three Aaron Hardie off successive deliveries to Sydney Sixers paceman Sean Abbott in the fourth over of the run-chase.
Tottering at 36-2, Sam Fanning and in-form Cooper Connolly lifted the Scorchers to 91 from nine overs as the two belligerent cricketers formed a quick 55-run stand for the third wicket.
